What does it mean to have the will to do something?

To “have the will to do something” means to possess the determination, resolve, and desire to take action and achieve a particular goal. It’s about having a strong intention and the power to direct one’s thoughts and actions towards that end, often despite potential obstacles or difficulties.

Determination – It involves a steadfast and persistent commitment to achieving something, even when faced with challenges.

Resolve – It’s the firmness of purpose, strength of character to stick to a decision and follow through with an action.

Desire – It refers to a strong longing or wish to do something often with a sense of purpose and intention.

Power of Control – It suggests having control over one’s own emotions, allowing one to focus and persevere in the face of obstacles.

So, there it is, Determination, Resolve, Desire, and Power of Control. The fuel. For this engine is ACTION!

The truth is that you only have control of yourself. You may have influence on outcomes based on your actions but the one thing you have full control of is yourself. I hope you see this as freeing and enabling as I did. I felt like I could shrug off everything that wasn’t in my control. I did not have to participate in negative talk. Whew! That’s a big one. Try for a day, not to say anything negative about anyone or situation. I had a lot of restarts here.

So, in summary, if you can clarify your dream or goal, you can create a plan to get there. Don’t wait for the motivation to apply action to what you want. Be a contrarian instead. Put the action in and watch the motivation grow inside you! I once heard someone say, ‘Stop looking for a leader. He is easy to find. Look in the mirror!’

If this blog has inspired you to action in building your dream or putting an action plan together, drop me a note. I would love to hear from you.
