Thomas Gollatz

I’m Thomas, and my journey to becoming a coach has been shaped by a lifetime of diverse experiences that have taught me the power of resilience, empathy, and connection. Born in a small Pennsylvania town to Austrian immigrant parents, I was raised in a large, close-knit family that instilled in me the importance of relationships, community, and hard work.

I faced my own life challenges, including the devastating loss of my wife to cancer and a subsequent divorce. These personal experiences brought me face-to-face with grief, pain, and the intense process of rebuilding from the ground up. It was there that I truly began to understand the depth of human experience. Navigating the complexities of loss and rebuilding through some of my darkest moments gave me a unique perspective on life’s fragility and the resilience required to overcome hardship.

You’re not broken—you’re rebuilding. Let’s build something incredible together.

It’s time to reclaim your life. Let’s turn this transition into transformation, empowering you to step forward with confidence and authenticity into the life you design.

I had to communicate to my three children that, even though it was me that felt I had failed, it was not in anyway, something that they had contributed to and that my love for them was exactly like it was all of their lives. These struggles—and the lessons I learned from them—are what led me to create Max Effort Coaching.

Through my own healing and growth, I discovered a calling to help divorced men and fathers find purpose after hardship.

I know firsthand the feelings of confusion, fear, and loss that can come with such transitions. But I also know that we have the power to rise again, to rebuild, and to create a life that is designed, meaningful and fulfilling. My coaching is not just about advice or strategies—it’s about helping people embrace their challenges and transform them into opportunities for growth.

I guide my clients through the same question I had to ask myself: “So… What now?” It is natural to think of life as “Win or Lose.” I believe that it is much more important to change your mindset to understand that life is “Win and Learn.” It’s this mindset that fuels my coaching, encouraging men and dads to reimagine their lives, to rebuild from a place of strength and authenticity, and to approach every obstacle as an opportunity to rise to their fullest potential.

I bring to my coaching not just the lessons I’ve learned from community, corporate career and personal loss, but a deep sense of empathy for those facing the tough realities of life. My experiences have equipped me with the tools to understand where people are coming from, to meet them where they are, and to help them move forward with purpose and clarity. This combination of real-world experience, compassion, and the ability to see the bigger picture is what makes me not just a coach, but someone who can truly help and walk with others to transform their lives.
